Gerard Hanson, an English painter of Jamaican descent who now calls Jamaica his home, opens his ‘Jamaica Home From Home’ exhibition on Tuesday, May 25, at the Revolution Gallery – 44 Lady Musgrave Road, Kingston 10.
It will feature Hanson’s scenes of everyday life, and he is expected to show as many as 20 pieces during the week-long exhibit. This is his second major show here in Jamaica, as approximately two years ago, he launched ‘Jamaica Was My Father’s Home’ at the Devonshire. That exhibition focued on activities in New Roads in Westmoreland, a sleepy rural farming district that his father – Cecil Hanson – had called home until he migrated to England in 1956.
